Book Reviews on Interesting Authors | Eclectic Readers

Beginning 28 August 2020 – DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. is performing book reviews, excepts, shout outs, etc. to help members of our community get their works to industry and readers. These will be “fair” reviews focusing on the positive while giving readers insights into the titles shared.

So . . . get ready to participate!

The Writer’s Life . . . 28.01.19

A writer, once a novelty (hence the novelist), now an every anybody who desires to do so vocation . . . the advent of self-publishing . . . an illuminating concept. And, I agree. It is illuminating to know everyone who desires to write – can – or may and that it is no longer exclusionary to a few who capture attention of mainstream publishers with astronomical budgets and a capability to make or break a potential author.

With liberation, always comes a season of discontent. The literary market, now flooded with would-be talent, and/or for-certain talent, both vie for speed and agility to release their next best publication to the reading world(s). I suggest worlds, because many of today’s self-published and Indie-published novels are digested by niche’ markets. These markets are becoming more and more demanding, while remaining unique insular spheres or “worlds” of recognition for emerging writers.

Some of the niche’ markets are so small, publications naturally reach Top Ten status if there is an ounce of quality in them because the spheres are so small there is no other option. Then, again, “other niche’ markets,” are growing so fast that regional or sub-categorized niche’s exist exponentially.

Then, there are larger and larger spheres of readership, until writers reach regions, seaboards, nations, and finally, feature global throughput. There, in the national and international marketplace is the fandom every writer aspires to . . . sooner or later . . . no matter how small the origins of the work writers know they have a need to continue to reach greater and greater numbers of readers because that is the grandest of successes. Every story has a message. Every message is meant for universal readers. And, that is the writer’s pulpit . . . if there were interstellar readers . . . writers would strive to reach them too, perhaps one day . . .

So, for today, it is enough to know, the writer writes and can do so and be published without having to pass the scrutiny of exclusionary tactics. Writers spin their magic on the page through the words some conspirators relate to as spells; however, words are truly epithets of humanity’s capability to lend discourse to thought and couple it with fantasy whether clandestine, dramatic, procedural, or mystic . . . a writer spins magical stories into webs of imagination and it remains a noble profession that culminates in the title: “An Author.”
