The Shadow Zone, by Richard Paracka

PRLogOct. 14, 2014ORLANDO, Fla.Ms. Quesinberry states: “Mr. Paracka’s new fantasy thriller novel shares a hidden world within the shadows of reality where fantasy overlaps real life . . . at least it does in Paracka’s, ‘The Shadow Zone.’ The DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. team is enthusiastic about sharing Richard’s work with readership at the onset of the 2014 holiday season. If you are a reader who enjoys solid fantasy fiction novels that grip their your senses from page one onward . . . you are a reader who needs to get a hold of a copy of ‘The Shadow Zone’ today.”

When Mr. Paracka was asked for more information about “The Shadow Zone” and himself as an author, he began with a quote from Walt Disney:

“Fantasy and reality often overlap.”

He further added . . . “I was a boy when George Reeves, the original TV Superman, showed us he could leap tall buildings faster than a speeding bullet. Later, as a young college man, I witnessed Gene Roddenberry’s starship Enterprise take on the bad guys at warp speed. Not until years later, did I realize it was the stories they conveyed, rather than the red cape or phaser guns, that made a lasting impression on my mind. Some of them were great stories that affected others too. One of the Superboys I grew up with, broke his leg when he tied a red towel around his neck and jumped off his porch roof. Another, inspired by Star Trek’s sense of fair play, went on to become a court judge. Fascinated by life’s curious mingling of fantasy and reality, I decided to explore its ever changing, yet always constant experience, by writing stories of my own. Every one of them snuggles up to dreams while playing fast and loose with patterns of reality. My new book ‘THE SHADOW ZONE,’ written in the spirit of this literary dance, waltzes back and forth across the invisible boundary between reality and fantasy.

“Susan Elizabeth Phillips stated, ‘When male authors write love stories, the heroine tends to end up dead.’  My response is, not always Susan . . . certainly not in ‘THE SHADOW ZONE.’

“When Ancient Greeks first told the tale of Perseus and Andromeda, the endangered maiden rescued by a handsome prince, a template was created that would be repeated for centuries. But reality doesn’t always follow the myth.  In our modern age, the myth very often becomes reality. ‘THE SHADOW ZONE’ fogs the boundary between fantasy and reality as its characters become lost in the translation between worlds. Will the modern age be swallowed up by the myth or will the myth be destroyed by reality? Both enter a contest with one another and only the reader will be able to judge the winner – somewhere in the shadows of imagination.

“It begins in the fog of mystery and tragedy and ends somewhere between the concrete desire for justice and very human dreams of peace and safety. Where does one begin and the other end?

“Let the reader decide – in ‘THE SHADOW ZONE.'”
